DODOMA: Minister of State in the President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, has said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visits to various countries are aimed at attracting business and investment opportunities rather than seeking financial aid.
Presenting the National Development Plan for the 2026/27 financial year in Parliament on June 11, 2026, Prof. Mkumbo said the government has placed strong emphasis on building an economy driven by investment, business, and greater participation of the private sector.
“When the President goes on foreign visits, she goes to seek development partners, not sponsors, and to pursue business and investment opportunities, not aid,” he said.
He added that in the search for investment opportunities, Tanzania does not set geographical limits, but instead seeks to open doors for cooperation and engagement with various global markets.
The remarks come as the government has identified investment and business as key sectors expected to drive economic transformation in the 2026/27 financial year. According to the plan, the government aims to increase private sector participation in financing and implementing development projects, while continuing to seek business and investment partners from different markets around the world.
