DODOMA, Tanzania: THE government has commenced the implementation of key infrastructure projects in Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region, aimed at improving social services.

Deputy Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) Mr Reuben Kwagilwa told the National Assembly yesterday that funds for the project has already been disbursed.

“Honourable Speaker, the government, with financing from the World Bank, has commenced the implementation of the TACTIC Project in Mbinga Urban Constituency.

The project is currently at the design stage under a consulting engineer known as Botek Bosphorus Technical Consulting Corporation (BOTEC), working in collaboration with Building Design Authority (P) Ltd and Masterpiece Consult Ltd, since 1 June 2025,” he said.

The deputy minister said once the design phase is completed, construction will commence immediately.

He was responding to a basic question posed by Jonas Mbunda (Mbinga Urban- CCM), who wanted to know when will the government begin implementing the TACTIC Project in Mbinga Urban Constituency.

Meanwhile, Mr Kwagilwa said the government has completed design of the Mshangano–Legele–Mletele road for construction to tarmac (asphalt) standard, whereby 2.51bn/- will be used for the initial construction of 5.0 kilometres of the road.

He said, currently, the government is continuing to seek funds in order to implement the construction of the road.

“As we await the availability of funds in the 2025/26 Financial Year, the road has been allocated 20m/- for routine maintenance. Furthermore, in the 2026/27 Financial Year, the government plans to allocate 250m/- for maintenance of the road to ensure that it remains passable throughout the year,” he said.

He was responding to a question by Ms Jacqueline Ngonyani (Special Seats), who wanted to know When will the government begin the construction of the Mshangano–Legele– Mletele road, which is 9.2 kilometres long.
