DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania: THE long-awaited construction of Young Africans stadium is now set to begin after GSM Tanzania Limited officially won the tender to partner with the club in developing a modern facility.

The club’s President, Engineer Hersi Said, who also chairs the special committee overseeing the project, will lead the implementation team.

The committee comprises all members of the club’s Executive Committee.

Speaking to journalists at the club’s headquarters, Yanga’s Information and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, said the committee is expected to meet with GSM to discuss the initial stages of project implementation.

Kamwe said that the decision followed an Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday and chaired by President Hersi Said, which focused solely on the stadium construction process.

“That meeting deliberated and officially approved the company that has won the tender to partner with Yanga in the construction of our stadium,” he said.

He added that before selecting the successful bidder, the club went through several assessment stages, including evaluating the proposed construction site. The assessment revealed the need for additional land to ensure the project meets the required standards.
